Question by : Does anyone know the criteria for an equity loan “cash out” on a boat loan?
We will own our yacht free and clear next year. We have heard about loans you can get against your boat to do improvements? Does anyone know how they work? What’s the criteria ie. credit score, income? Our boat is a 1961 Chris Craft. How do these loans work? Do you have to supply them with proof of improvements or estimates? I tried contacting a few companies I found online, but of course they won’ t reply to your emails.
Best answer:
Answer by sail4evr1 I don’t think any bank will loan against a 48 year old boat. You might be able to get a loan using your boat as collateral if you absolutely don’t need the loan in the first place, but just want an interest deduction, meaning you are rich with abundant assets and way more cash than you know what to do with..

Question by : caught during the SATs?
So today I saw somebody in my room got caught during the SATs.
(she didn’t like cheat but she was working on a wrong section)
the proctor called the office and she was not able to continue taking the test.
her score was canceled i think.
So if she was to send that score to colleges (like if she used the free credits and has to send the january scores, would they find out that she got caught? would it just say her score was canceled? or it wouldn’t even say anything?
Just curious!
Best answer:
Answer by Skye Wow- that bites. I just took the SATs today. To go through all the studying and wake up early on a Saturday morning to have your scores canceled is awful.
However, I believe that if she were to have her scores sent, since there are no scores, the requests for sending her scores was canceled. In the records it will probably show that she was there and had no scores as a result. This could be looked into- but I’m not sure it will harm her much (if she gets a chance to be interviewed by the college and the interviewer asks her why, then she should explain- colleges like honesty, and this sounds reasonable. But she should make sure to pay more attention next time)
Great question- you may want to check on sat.collegeboard.com just in case
Question by different drummer: What would you do if a mortgage company gave you the run-around?
Doesn’t return calls, claims they will get back with you and never does.
Do I have certain rights when dealing with a lender? I realize my credit is not the greatest, but this kind of shoddy treatment is unacceptable. They ding my credit by running my credit, and apparently did it under my free annual report, so now I can’t even find out my credit report or score without paying again! I should also be eligible for FHA, and time is ticking away on the $ 8,000 cash back program.
I am a disabled veteran, by the way.
Best answer:
Answer by Gary Z I would report them to the Banking and Insurance Division of state govt, You could also try the better business bureau.

Question by ap_jp4: When a credit card company sends you a “pre-approved” card, does that company first check your credit score?
The companies issuing the cards use the term, prescreened offer. So my guess is that they do check some sort of info. My uderstanding was that companies could only check credit scores with permission from the person the info is pertaining to. This concerns me because if every time I get a card through the mail, my credit is checked, this could sevrely damage my credit score. We are only intitled to one free credit report a year, right? So forgive me for being blunt, but if the answer I recieve confirms my concern, the companies ought to be reprimanded.
Best answer:
Answer by stillnocouch Yes, they check your credit before for Pre-Approved applications. However, these forms of checks do NOT count against you. The only checks that count against you are those which are initiated when YOU seek credit.
If you go to 10 stores seeking credit for, say a Sterio, those 10 hits counts against you. If 10 Credit Card companies purchase your credit history from a credit bureau for the purposes of soliciting credit arrangements with you, those hits do NOT count against you.

Question by Sara S: Is this a bad idea?
Ok, so my fiance & I are getting married in July. We’re going to be short about $ 2,000, so our plan is to find a credit card to put both of our names on that has no interest for 6-12 months. That way both of our credit scores will be built up too. As long as we pay our payment on time, the interest-free term sticks. Then we’re planning on saving the money, like we would have if our wedding was set at a later date, & paying it to the card. And yes, we will make the payments. And no, we can’t postpone the wedding to a later date to save up the cash to pay for it. We’ve sent out invites & booked everything, & it will just cost more money to transfer dates and reschedule the honeymoon. Are there any cons to this other than if we don’t make the payments or pay it off? Please no criticism about how we shouldn’t charge it should cut back & not be selfish or crap like that. We are adults & don’t need to hear that, & we wouldn’t be in this predicament if unexpected things hadn’t of came up.

Best answer:
Answer by Steve D Only your credit report is free at http://www.annualcreditreport.com
Scores cost money or you have to sign up for a “free” trial and hope you can get your score and then cancel before the membership kicks in at $ 20/month – which sometimes can be very hard to do.

Question by : Credit Bureaus and Agencies not reporting correctly?
So I enrolled in an identity theft protection program at my bank because it was free for the first month. I wanted to get my credit reports and scores.
I noticed that, among other things, some of the items on my credit reports are missing information like the dates or account numbers, etc. The troubling part is that many of them have not been reported for a long time. So the item will be on my credit, but will have not been reported or updated for months or even years.
My understanding was that the companies and creditors had to report accurate, up-to-date information monthly to the Credit Bureaus.
So why is nothing happening when they items haven’t been reported for so long?
Don’t the Credit Bureaus keep up on these things?
How does all that work?
And how do I correct it if, say I pay something off, but it hasn’t reported in 2 years, how would I get it to report correctly?
Thanks, and PLEASE don’t post spam stuff here. It’s getting very annoying to find that the only answers I have are all spam.
Best answer:
Answer by KENNY azcredit.net You need to write to each company and ask them to update the account balances. Or dispute the wrong information. You need to be very specific as to what needs to be changed. You will have to include the account numbers for them to investigate. This will take 30 days to get updated.
