If you have bad credit, but you pay all of your debts, how long would it be before you have good credit? Does it happen overnight?

No. If you had any delinquent accounts, they would stay on your record for–wait for it–7 years.

That’s not to say your credit wouldn’t improve in the interim. Credit issuers report to credit agencies every 30-60 days or so. And the further away you are from your debt, the higher your credit score will go. Six months from now, your credit should be drastically improved if you don’t have any more delinquencies. Your score is constantly fluctuating based on how you use credit–not just how much you spend, but how many accounts you open, how late you are with your payments, etc.

I use a credit monitoring system through Equifax.com. For $ 7 a month, they text message me every time my score changes.

650 is good, not excellent, but good. mine is about 680 and I have nothing negative, but i have a lot of credit available, that can keep you down, but you can buy a house with that number. i’m gonna cancel a lot of my credit very soon

nothing negative is on my report, but only one good account is listed. i am wondering what my score would probably be. and will this look ok when applying for an apt. the good account was a loan i took out a long time ago and says that i paid all payments on time. loan was under $ 900

and how hard would it be for me to get a credit card?

your score isn’t bad, but isn’t necessarily great. This is because you don’t have a good mix of credit going on, with just one loan you don’t have enough accounts open to really prove yourself as a good risk for a bank. You shouldn’t have a problem getting a credit card, though. I would guess your score is between 650-680, but it isn’t a STRONG score since you only have 1 account. Apply for a credit card or two, and pay them off monthly. in about 6 months you will have really good credit and won’t have to worry about getting approved or not.

I think the answer to this has changed many times due to fluctuating markets, but I think high 600s, into the 700s is pretty good. 600 to 650 is in the middle, and anything under 600 needs some work.

I am 21 and got a credit card about 6-7 months ago and I’ve never had any late payments. I usually pay 3x the minimum payment amount every week or every other week. I got approved for my apartment 2 months ago and now I am planning to trade in my fully paid card for a new mustang and was wondering what are the chances i will get approved

Auto finance is what I do for a living and at only 21-years old with only 1 credit card for only 6-7 months on top of 2-months at the same residence you will need a cosigner.

Hi guys, I just checked my credit and my score is 611. I was wondering if that` was considered a good score. I am going to be applying to live in a co-op building and they will check my credit report. I was wondering if 611 was considered a good score and whether you guys thought it would be good enough to get me into a co-op building? Thanks so much any advice!

I am trying to get a loan from my credit union for a car and I haven’t applied for the loan because the other 2 credit agencies are in the process of disputing something I paid off, but the whole question is, is the credit score 688 good to get a Auto loan?

What can i do to increase my credit since i am right here at the brink..lol…? I was told from a car dealership that if my credit score was below 680 that i would have to put a hefty deposit down. Thanks for your help in advance..

650 is alright credit… in the 720′s is better though. If you want to increase your credit fast, pay down all of your credit cards to 25% of their limits. If more than 30% of a credit limit is used on any given credit card, your score decreases. Maybe get a copy of your credit report and look for errors as well; 80% of reports contain errors.
