Question by :
Where was “The Free Credit Report?”?
So I was trying to get a free credit report online and I came here to Yahoo Answers to ask a question on it but then I found previous similar question just like it.
So I went to Free Credit Report >com to get a “Free Credit Report” and I saw everything I needed to see. Knowing that there are certain Membership Fees I wanted to avoid I read everything as carefully as possible as I could before typing anything in or clicking on something I would regret but I found no indication on getting charged for viewing a “free credit report”.
Somehow I got charged 24.95 because I viewed my scores from all three Credit Bureaus and I don’t recall clicking on something that says “It’s ok to charge me 24.95 for viewing what I think is a free credit report.”
I made sure to call up and cancel the membership so don’t incur Membership fees ($ 14. something)but I also asked the lady why 24.95 and she was all rude cus I couldn’t understand her.
Was it my fault she had a heavy accent??
All I wanted to know was why I got charged for viewing my credit score.
Then she wanted me to have the membership she said ” I CUT YOUR MEMBERSHIP IN HALF AND YOU DONT WANT YOUR MEMBERSHIP?”
I was doing fine without it in the first place I just needed to see it for myself, which by the way is 700, not bad. Why would want to get charged $ 7 every month if I’m not even gunna use it. I only check my score once a year anyway.
Has anyone had a problem with these people???
If so, Where did I make a mistake as to getting charged 24.95 and not knowing about it.
BTW I found out til my bank texted me and sent me a warning about my balance.
And also what might by another quick, fast, easy, and most of all, FREE way to get my credit score?
If not possible as long as it’s free I guess at the very least.
EWWWW no
I hate those stupid commercials, I don’t like watching them. Those tunes are in no way catchy. Like I said I wanted to see what my credit was like.
THANKS LADY(with the long answer)
I know I was gunna get charged for something but they said it was only like a dollar to check to see if my card was valid or not but I guess I should have been more reasonable.

Here’s where you screwed up: You were enjoying the catchy tune and watching the band, and you missed the text that appears on the bottom of the screen at the end. It said you can get a free credit report if you sign up for the credit monitoring plan.
You can get your credit report from the three credit reporting companies for free once a year. Ask each of them 4 months apart and you can have three reports in a year every year.
That’s what you get for letting a commercial sway you.
