Where was “The Free Credit Report?”?

Question by :
Where was “The Free Credit Report?”?
So I was trying to get a free credit report online and I came here to Yahoo Answers to ask a question on it but then I found previous similar question just like it.
So I went to Free Credit Report >com to get a “Free Credit Report” and I saw everything I needed to see. Knowing that there are certain Membership Fees I wanted to avoid I read everything as carefully as possible as I could before typing anything in or clicking on something I would regret but I found no indication on getting charged for viewing a “free credit report”.
Somehow I got charged 24.95 because I viewed my scores from all three Credit Bureaus and I don’t recall clicking on something that says “It’s ok to charge me 24.95 for viewing what I think is a free credit report.”
I made sure to call up and cancel the membership so don’t incur Membership fees ($ 14. something)but I also asked the lady why 24.95 and she was all rude cus I couldn’t understand her.
Was it my fault she had a heavy accent??
All I wanted to know was why I got charged for viewing my credit score.
Then she wanted me to have the membership she said ” I CUT YOUR MEMBERSHIP IN HALF AND YOU DONT WANT YOUR MEMBERSHIP?”
I was doing fine without it in the first place I just needed to see it for myself, which by the way is 700, not bad. Why would want to get charged $ 7 every month if I’m not even gunna use it. I only check my score once a year anyway.
Has anyone had a problem with these people???
If so, Where did I make a mistake as to getting charged 24.95 and not knowing about it.
BTW I found out til my bank texted me and sent me a warning about my balance.

And also what might by another quick, fast, easy, and most of all, FREE way to get my credit score?
If not possible as long as it’s free I guess at the very least.
EWWWW no
I hate those stupid commercials, I don’t like watching them. Those tunes are in no way catchy. Like I said I wanted to see what my credit was like.
THANKS LADY(with the long answer)
I know I was gunna get charged for something but they said it was only like a dollar to check to see if my card was valid or not but I guess I should have been more reasonable.

Here’s where you screwed up: You were enjoying the catchy tune and watching the band, and you missed the text that appears on the bottom of the screen at the end. It said you can get a free credit report if you sign up for the credit monitoring plan.

You can get your credit report from the three credit reporting companies for free once a year. Ask each of them 4 months apart and you can have three reports in a year every year.

That’s what you get for letting a commercial sway you.

Is there an access to free credit REPORT without signups?

Question by Larry H:
Is there an access to free credit REPORT without signups?
I would like to get repairs to my credit score underway but I am sick of these so called “FREE” credit report offers that are never “free.” It may well be free but you have to pay for something else to get it. I should be able to view my report WITHOUT signing up for something or paying for something else. After all, it is MINE, right? Does anyone know if this is available?

Annual Credit Report.com

https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp

You get all three reports free once a year.
Do not fall for any other scam site that will try to charge you for something that is free.

Do not ever get your score unless you know every line of your three reports.
And only get the score if you are about to buy a home or make a major purchase.
The score can be purchased for about $ 20 at myfico.com
(but make sure every line on your reports is in perfect condition first)

How can you get your credit report and score free without going to the free annual report?

You can get a free credit report at http://www.annualcreditreport.com

You can not get a free credit score. If you want one, you would have to “play the game” of going to http://www.freecreditreport.com and signing up for their service, then canceling it within 30 days. This goes to any of the dozen sites that these Yahoo responders are going to give you. Trust me….there are no free scores available.

Credit Score? Report?

Question by JellyCat:
Credit Score? Report?
I have used the free credit site and found that I had a charge off of a card from 3 years ago, which about 2 years ago I paid it off. The bank doesn’t dispute it was paid, and says I’m current and that’s history. My credit report on the other hand says it’s charged off. When I mentioned this to the person on the phone from the credit card company he said it was going to stay charged off. Even though it was paid? Something about because it went to collections..

Basically what i’m asking is that , IMO that answer doesn’t seem to make much sense. If it’s paid shouldn’t the status be changed to “paid” or “paid settlement” or what have you?

I would like to get my credit/act together in this sense. Any tips or sugestions?

Who did you pay off, the original creditor or a collection agency? If you have something in writing from the original creditor that it was paid off, then you can dispute the item with the credit reporting agencies. Even if you don’t have something in writing you have the right to have the information validated by the credit reporting agency with the original creditor. Sounds like if you did that, the original creditor would report that it was “paid settlement”.

Where can we go to check credit report for free online without checking score?

Question by altpe09:
Where can we go to check credit report for free online without checking score?
I’ve tried a few websites, but whenever I fill out my info, they end up asking me for my credit card info. Which means, they’ll probably take away money. I want it to be free. I don’t want it to be free for 30-60 days then pay. Does anyone know what I mean? If so, please help me find a website where people can check their credit report without having to worry about making any payments for it. Thank you.

Go directly to the 3 credit reporting companies, Trans Union, Equifax and Experian. You can get a copy free once a year from them. If you want it more often, you have to pay, but you can deal directly with them, no middleman.

Are there any free credit report sites where you do not have to put in credit card information?

Question by cordelia_chase:
Are there any free credit report sites where you do not have to put in credit card information?
I currently do not have a credit card. I have had them in the past, and I got into trouble with them, among other things. But I have really cleaned up all of my debt problems. So I am wanting to see what my credit score is now, but every site I have found wants valid credit card information, so after your ‘free trial’ is up they can charge you every month. But I thought there was a site through the government that did it for free, where you didn’t have to put any of that information in. I live in the United States by the way, so you can better answer my question. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Yes, it’s annualcreditreport.com This is the only site out there that will offer you free credit report. However there is nothing like free credit scores. You have to pay to get credit scores.
